William Ruiz Morales

William Ruiz Morales has been working with the association more2rhythm since 2016 as a dramaturg, performer and programmer. He collaborated with Naïma Mazic for the piece HOME in Cuba and Sharing HOME in Vienna.

William graduated in 2007 in Theater Sciences at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, Cuba. He has combined the work as theater director, dramaturge, theoretician and cultural manager. From 2007 to 2009 he taught Modern and Contemporary Theatre History at the Theater Arts Faculty, ISA. Furthermore, he has conducted seminars and workshops on subjects related with theater and political philosophy. From 2007 to 2012 he coordinated tubo de ensayo, a platform for young theater in Cuba. That initiative continued with the Laboratorio Ibsen, a scenic platform for social experimentation with which he won, in 2012, the Ibsen International Scholarship.

Since 2007 he has directed several theater pieces such as Deathvariations that was invited to the Bergen International Festival in 2011.
Besides theater, his main field of work, William participated as visual artist in two group exhibitions and has worked as dramaturge for the national dance company Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, the most renowned Cuban company in 2014.

Since 2012 he is the general curator of Espacios Ibsen, a festival in Havana for collaborative work in the field of performing arts between Cuba and Norway. As part of that initiative he has created and participated in multiple performing art projects.
In May 2014, he received a fellowship from the Goethe Institute to participate in Experimenta/Sur in Bogota, Colombia. He finished the Research Studios at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels.
